Michael Bateman- Head Coach
Coach Bateman is described as "Child, Family, & Fighter Approved" for his relatable nature across a variety of different training environments.
A lifelong martial artist and retired competitor, he brings more than two decades coaching experience and 40 years training to our academy. He creates a special kind of energy as he actively leads daily instruction across all ages and skill levels.
Currently, a 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Prof. John Ouano, and a 6th Degree Black Belt under Korea Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan, who continues his progress through daily training and active instruction.
He is recognized as a Senior Combatives Instructor by the USAF, and is a long time, multi-state licensed MMA coach and IFL Coach of the Year recipient.
Most important, he balances an energetic yet disciplined learning environment with the goal of helping each student achieve their own success!

Lindsey Bateman - Program Manager
Mrs. Lindsey is the first face most people will see as she manages our front end assisting with scheduling, memberships and student needs.
"As a wife and mom, consistency and organization is mandatory to sustain a busy life, and I ensure our academy takes that same approach to make your life easier!"

In addition to family and profession, she is also a Black Belt in Taekwondo and served as an early instructor in our youth striking program before taking over as program manager and front end director of our academy.
Coach Jeremy - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Coach Jeremy's journey started here in 2018 as a Dad sharing interest with his children. He is now the lead instructor of NXG's Youth BJJ Program.
Additionally, he is the creator of "Mission on the Mats" which supports BJJ Bible Study Groups with NXG Combat Sports becoming the base of the operation.
In addition to coaching he is also an experienced IBJJF competitor.
Coach Adam - Striking
Adam interned in our Instructor Development Program starting in 2023 and began his role as an Assistant Instructor in 2025. He currently provides support to both youth and adult striking programs at NXG Combat Sports.
He is experienced in both Kickboxing & MMA Competition.
Coach Monie - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Monie joined our community when he was just a teenager, and over the years has earned many awards in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a certified striking coach in the NXG Striking System, but currently serves as an Assistant Coach in our Youth and Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program.
As an active member of our MMA Fight Team he has earned victories in Summit FC as well as an amateur title in the IFL.
Coach Tiara - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Ms. Tiara provides support to our Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program, and mentorship to the many ladies of our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program. She is welcoming face with a genuine heart who provides great value and encouragement to everyone around her both on and off the mats. She is also an accomplished competitor in regional events including NAGA and AGF.
Coach Ben - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Ben came to us with over a decade of training and has been a part of NXG Combat Sports since 2020. In addition to receiving his Black Belt from Prof. John Ouano in 2024, he is also a scholastic with a PHD and over 20 years service in the USAF.
Coach Ben oversees our 05:30 Early Bird Jiu-Jitsu Program and is an accomplished IBJJF competitor!
